Observation

Storage room is accessible to children. Janitorial supplies are accessible. Children have access to the stage area and it is being used as a storage area. Dispute Description: WAC 0260 is referring to storage of hazardous and maintenance supplies. All hazardous supplies within the Y storage closet are stored inaccessible to children (on high shelves). Children are not allowed inside the closet but staff need to frequently move in and out to get supplies. Having to lock and unlock the door each time would pull staff attention away from interaction and engagements with children. If needed to be compliant we could lock the specific cabinet where hazardous materials are stored. On 11/23 the school's janitorial storage was unlocked and staff reported that the janitor was nearby cleaning. The licensor also mentioned having a conversation with the janitor when they were nearby. We run inside a public school and cannot control what school staff do within their spaces. If school staff were to be gone and the space was left open we would secure the space. The stage area is divided off by a curtain that is kept closed. Any materials being stored are from the school. The school does not allow us to use the stage (only the steps below the curtain which have bins for children's belongings) and all children know they are not allowed to use the stage.
